If you need to cancel or delay your trip due to unexpected events, such as illness or natural disasters, available coverage starts from AUD$2,000, with the option to increase the limit. This will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance.
If you need medically necessary emergency transportation to a hospital or back to Australia for treatment, the plan provides unlimited cover for evacuation and related expenses. You must have our consent to evacuate or repatriate you.
Accidents happen, and if you unintentionally cause injury or property damage while travelling, the plan provides up to AUD$2,500,000 in legal liability coverage. Terms and conditions apply.
Lost your suitcase? Had your phone stolen? The plan covers a maximum of AUD$12,000 for stolen, lost, or damaged belongings. Emergency luggage for essential items available if your accompanying suitcase is delayed.

Why should I consider The Works travel insurance plan?
Many travellers believe they don’t need travel insurance—until something goes wrong. Here’s why you should consider TID's The Works travel insurance:
- Medical emergencies overseas can be expensive. A hospital stay in the U.S. can cost thousands per day.
- Airlines and hotels may not refund last-minute cancellations. Having travel insurance could mean you don’t lose all your money.
- Theft and lost luggage happen. Replacing lost or stolen valuables can be costly and frustrating.
- Rental car accidents can lead to hefty excess fees. Insurance may help cover those unexpected costs.
The features and benefits described are a summary of cover only. Cover is subject to the full terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions outlined in the Product Disclosure Statement.

Comprehensive travel insurance FAQs
Can I buy travel insurance after booking my trip?
Yes, you can buy travel insurance once you’re already travelling, but buying travel insurance as soon as you book gives you cancellation protection in case you need to cancel due to unexpected events.
If you do buy travel insurance while already travelling, please note that there is a 72-hour waiting period from the time your Certificate of Insurance is issued.
The exception is if you're injured in an accident, in which case even if the 72 hours haven't yet passed cover as per the conditions of overseas medical expenses and medical evacuation and repatriation will begin from the time of the accident for that injury.

Can I extend my travel insurance while overseas?
Yes, you may extend your policy while abroad, but terms and conditions apply. It’s best to check with us before your policy expires.
