Australians require a visa when entering Nepal, for tourists they are available on arrival. Remember to ensure your passport is at least six months valid before travelling. Learn More

When to go

The peak-season (Mid-September through to November) which occurs after monsoon season has pleasant conditions and is a great time for trekking but accommodation can be expensive. February through to April is the second best time to visit with warm weather and when the Rhododendron blooms, and before the monsoon season begins. Learn More


Malaria can occur in certain parts of Nepal and mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever can be common in Kathmandu. Water-borne diseases can be also prevalent and as a precaution, it is advised to boil drinking water. Outside of Kathmandu healthcare facilities can be limited while Kathmandu has international medical facilities they can be expensive and generally an upfront payment is required. Learn More
