We always advise you check with Smartraveller to see how safe or unsafe a country or a region is before travelling. Whilst crime targeting tourists does exist in Africa for the most part smartraveller issues a green light to the main tourist destinations such as South Africa and Botswana and North African nations such as Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. Keep in mind we will not cover you under any event in any section of the policy if you travel to a country or region which the Australian government has issued a 'Do Not Travel' warning.
