A vast continent with diverse landscapes, cultures and rich history makes Africa an amazing place to visit. However, with the ever-present danger of muggings, cancelled flights and Safari related mishaps there's a lot that can go wrong on your holiday. Luckily, we can offer cover with travel insurance for Africa! Don't forget that each country has its own laws, government stipulations and potential risks.
Here are some of the cover benefits available with a travel insurance policy.
Compensation for unforeseen medical expenses incurred whilst on an overseas holiday
Cover back to Australia if a medical practitioner requires you to be medically escorted home due to a sudden illness or injury that happens on your trip.
Insurance if you have to cancel your trip due to unforeseeable events outside of your control (e.g. sudden illness).
Choosing travel insurance can be confusing, so we've made it easy. We have four plans to choose from, each offering a different level of cover. You'll find loads of information about each one, but the plans on offer range from comprehensive to basic, domestic or international as well as single or multiple trips.
Our most popular and comprehensive plan, the Works offers broad cover for international trips including unlimited cover for costs such as medical expenses and cancellation as well as added benefits.
Sticking to a shoestring budget? Our budget plan is designed for travellers who want coverage for all the important things, like hospital bills and stolen luggage, without breaking the bank.
Are you a frequent flyer? If you travel often for business, or have a few holidays coming up, our annual multi-trip plan could be for you. Made for globetrotters, this plan includes comprehensive cover for unlimited trips taken over 12 months.
We always advise you check with Smartraveller to see how safe or unsafe a country or a region is before travelling. Whilst crime targeting tourists does exist in Africa for the most part smartraveller issues a green light to the main tourist destinations such as South Africa and Botswana and North African nations such as Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. Keep in mind we will not cover you under any event in any section of the policy if you travel to a country or region which the Australian government has issued a 'Do Not Travel' warning. The latest travel advice can be found here.
We can offer cover for emergency medical expenses incurred overseas after a sudden illness or serious injury. If you become unwell during your holiday make sure you contact TIDs 24/7 Emergency Assistance team as soon as possible and they will coordinate your care at the best medical facilities on the ground in Africa.
Read the policy wording for full terms, conditions and exclusions and to ensure the product suits your needs.
