What does TID trip interruption insurance cover?
Our policies may cover additional expenses (up to policy limits) for travel, accommodation, meals to rearrange your journey when something unexpected affects your travel plans.
Our policies may cover you in the event of:

✔️ Family or work emergencies - if you or a travel companion are unable to continue travelling due to sudden illness or an injury or death.
✔️ Other interruptions - such as jury duty, redundancy, or your tour being cancelled because of low numbers.

What's the difference between trip cancellation, trip delay and trip interruption insurance?
You might be wondering: What's the difference between trip cancellation, trip delay and trip interruption insurance?
While they sound similar, each covers a different scenario:
- Trip cancellation: If you can’t start your trip at all due to illness, injury, or events like a natural disaster, cancellation cover may reimburse your pre-paid, non-refundable costs.
- Trip delay: If your transport is delayed—say, due to severe weather or a missed connection—this cover may help with extra costs for meals, hotels, or transport while you wait.
- Trip interruption: If your trip has already begun but is cut short or disrupted by an insured event, interruption cover may help with costs to rearrange travel, return home, or re-join your trip. For example, if a typhoon halts transport in Japan or you need to return to Australia because of the hospitalisation or death of a close relative.
