Bali – Seasonality and Weather

Reading time: 2 minutes

What is the weather like throughout the year?

Due to being just 8 degrees south of the equator, Bali’s climate is tropical and humid all year round. With this being said, there are two predominant seasons; rainy, from November to April where humidity and rainfall increases, and dry, May to October where the weather and temperature is more palatable.

What are the peak periods?

The dry season, with it’s better weather conditions, is the best time to visit making it the highest peak period. Christmas is also a busy time due to the Australian summer holidays falling around these months. It’s important to take into account that accommodation prices will be a lot higher, roads will be congested and there will be more people around.
The best times to visit Bali are around April, May, June and September, before and after high season. You will find cheaper accommodation rates, less tourists and better weather conditions.

Getting around

Bali has many methods of transport for tourists to utilise but not all are convenient. Although cheap, Bemos (a small minibus) aren’t the most punctual and enjoyable way to get around. Shuttle buses are the best kind of bus service to consider as they travel along some of Bali’s main tourist routes.

Driving in Bali

Traffic in Indonesia is notoriously chaotic and so the utmost care must be taken when considering driving in Bali. A popular choice is choosing to hire a scooter or motorbike. With such hectic and busy roads, all visitors looking to do so must ensure they are safe at all times. A valid license is also needed to drive in Bali and you can find out more information here.

Driving a scooter or bike in Bali does have its advantages. They are quicker, convenient, widely available and a lot of fun!

What should I pack specifically for Bali?

Must-pack essentials
