  • Medical Coverage: Support for medical emergencies, including treatments and hospital stays.
  • Cancellation Protection: Refunds for non-refundable trip costs due to sudden cancellations from illness or emergencies.
  • Luggage & Personal Items: Compensation for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings, including travel documents.
  • 24/7 Emergency Assistance: Access our Emergency Assistance Team anytime, anywhere.
  • Natural Disaster Coverage: Protection against trip cancellations or interruptions caused by unforeseen natural disasters.

Why consider travel insurance for senior travellers?

For senior travellers, travel insurance could potentially be the best thing you pack in your suitcase. Here’s why:

  • Medical Coverage: As health risks increase with age, travel insurance provides essential coverage for medical emergencies, treatments, and hospital stays, which may not be fully covered by your regular health insurance abroad.
  • Pre-existing Conditions: Select plans offer cover for pre-existing conditions, offering reassurance that you won't be left without coverage. Check your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for the full list of pre-existing medical conditions that we cover.
  • Emergency Assistance Services: Should you face a medical emergency, travel insurance offers 24/7 assistance to navigate foreign healthcare systems, locate medical facilities, and facilitate language barriers with medical professionals.
  • Comprehensive Protection: Beyond medical emergencies, we also offer cover for trip cancellation, lost. Stolen or delayed luggage, flight delays, and other unexpected travel issues
  • Dental Emergencies: Dental issues can be both painful and expensive –especially abroad. Our plans include coverage for dental emergencies, ensuring you can receive treatment without worrying about the cost.

Ten handy travel insurance tips for senior travellers

Here are some tips to help you while on your travels while abroad:

  1. Make sure you correctly choose the right trip dates, age limit, and level of cover.
  2. Ensure all your destinations are covered.
  3. Make sure you understand what a pre-existing medical condition is under our policies.
  4. Some activities and sports may require an extra level of cover or may not be covered.
  5. Make sure you clearly understand the benefit limits and the excess as per the level of cover you've selected.
  6. Understand that there will be General Exclusions in your cover for which you won't be covered under any circumstances.
  7. Make copies of travel documents and keep receipts in case you need to make a claim.
  8. Know the medical history and needs of you and your family. Take relevant medical information with you and keep it handy.
  9. Always check visa requirements of your intended destination(s) – some countries require you to have at least 6 months validity on your passport.
  10. Keep your documentation at hand: think medical treatments, diagnoses, and receipts. This will be especially handy if you intend to make a claim.

What’s not covered?

While we strive to provide comprehensive coverage for your adventures, it's important to know that some scenarios aren't covered under our policies. Here's a quick guide to help you stay informed and make better decisions while enjoying your holiday:

  • Reckless Behaviour: Engaging in risky activities, such as attempting activities that are not suited for your health levels, or attempting dangerous stunts, will not be covered. We encourage you to prioritize your safety and be mindful of your limits.
  • Intoxication: Incidents caused by impairment due to alcohol or drugs are not covered. Your judgment and safety are paramount.
  • Unattended Luggage & Personal Effects: Losses incurred from leaving your belongings unattended in a public place are not covered. Always keep your valuables secure and close.
  • Inappropriate Gear on Motorcycles: Riding motorcycles without proper training, experience, or a valid license, especially in inadequate attire, voids coverage for accidents.
  • High-Risk Activities: Activities that deliberately put your life at risk, such as hunting, racing (except on foot), mountaineering requiring support ropes, paragliding, rock climbing, abseiling, and BASE jumping, are not covered. Always check with us before you engage in potentially high-risk activities.
  • DO NOT TRAVEL Warnings: Losses resulting from government interventions, such as quarantine or border closures, and any events occurring in destinations under a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning, are not covered.

This summary highlights key exclusions but doesn't capture all the details. For a comprehensive understanding, please read the PDS before purchasing a policy. If you have any doubts or need clarification, contact us – we're here to help.
