iPad Travel Insurance: Travel Insurance for your iPhone & Tablet Computers

The i-generation is travelling with more expensive luggage than ever before, it is now routine to travel with a whole suite of electronics, from iPhones and BlackBerries to complex digital SLR cameras, laptop computers, iPods and tablet devices.

With regards to iPad & iPhone travel insurance, travellers need to check their policies against the following criteria

  • the limits on individual items
  • the combined value of luggage cover

If your total baggage dollar value is over the limit, it is quite simple to take out additional cover to ensure the actual value of your luggage is coverd by the policy. In 2009, camera equipment was the largest category of additional travel cover taken out by TID customers, representing a total of 41% of specified items, followed by laptops (18%), mobile phones (9%) followed by jewellery (7%).

Travel Insurance Direct offers $12,000 in luggage cover, including up to $4,000 per item for cameras, laptops, hand-held coputers and up to $700 for other items.

An essential travel accessory

A laptop computer is almost an essential travel accessory these days, which is why Travel Insurance Direct offers $4000 of laptop cover in our standard International Holiday Insurance product.

Business people already know that a laptop is a no-brainer to stay in touch with the office and smart travellers know that applications like Skype make laptops a great way to stay in touch every day without the exorbitant hotel telephone call rates.

Leisure travellers are also waking up to the fact that a laptop and its DVD player can turn a long flight from a bore punctuated dull, old movies into some time to enjoy the content you prefer. Once you land, your laptop means you don’t need to worry about maxing out your digital camera’s memory card: just upload your daily snaps to the laptop, then take more photos! And when it rains, pop another DVD into your laptop rather than adding to your hotel bill with an in-room rip-off.

Relax - Laptop travel insurance is standard

Some people, however, worry about travelling overseas with their laptop in case they lose it or it is damaged in transit. That’s why Travel Insurance Direct’s standard International Holiday insurance includes cover for accidental loss, theft of, or damage to your laptop.

We cover laptops for up to $4,000 – enough to replace all but the most expensive laptops. Our standard product also covers handheld computers, cameras and video cameras.

Few other travel insurance companies cover laptops in their basic product, reserving it for their business cover.

While there is an individual item, pair or set limit of $700 under all plans, when the item is a laptop, notebook or handheld computer, camera or video camera, our standard International Holiday product will cover these up to $4,000 each, which we feel is enough cover for the majority of such items.

So why not take your laptop with you on your next trip? It won’t cost any more to do so and you’ll enjoy all it has to offer wherever you may roam.
