An air traffic control system failure has resulted in thousands of passengers facing extended delays at Sydney Airport.

Reports indicate dozens of flights have been grounded with delays of over two hours (as at 10:30am AEST).

Air Services Australia announced a ‘system software failure’ was the cause of the delays.  Whilst the bug has been fixed, passengers can expect extended delays as airlines work to clear the backlog of flights.

If you purchased your TID policy* before 5:20am AEST Monday 25 September 2017 and you are delayed for at least 6 hours as a result of this event, cover may be available under our Travel Delay benefit for reimbursement of reasonable additional expenses for accommodation, meals and for transfers directly between transport terminals and accommodation or reimbursement toward the cost of your unusable, non-recoverable, pre-paid accommodation, transfer, tours, events and attractions.

For the full cover terms, conditions, limits and exclusions, you should check the PDS carefully.

*This benefit is only available to customers who have purchased The Works or the Annual Multi Trip policy. This benefit is not available to customers who have purchased The Basics or a Domestic policy.
