How your TID Travel Money Card works

With no upfront card costs or hidden fees, TID’s Travel Money Card makes your money go further. By spending in the local currency, you won’t get slugged with hidden transaction or currency conversion fees when you make a purchase or withdraw cash from an ATM.

Once you have received and activated your card, simply load money on using Bank Transfer or BPAY. Pick a single currency or several to lock in the exchange rate so you know exactly how much you have to spend on your holiday. You can then use your card like debit card to make purchases or withdraw cash.

Tips for using your TID Travel Money Card

  • DCC - Dynamic Currency Conversion

    Local merchants may ask if you’d prefer to pay in AUD or the another currency, this is called ‘DCC’ Dynamic Currency Conversion which will cost you more so always choose the local currency to avoid foreign exchange fees.

  • Pre-authorisation

    If you need to book rental cars or hotels, be careful using your card as a security deposit. Your money can be held for up to 30 days so keep an eye on your account balance.
