Reading time: 1 minute

The Capital and the largest city of the Czech Republic, Prague is the equal of Paris in terms of beauty. The 14th largest city in the European Union situated in the north west of the county on the Vltava River. Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” it’s known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colourful decorative buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock.

Start exploring Prague through the hyperlapse and timelapse footage from Capture the World’s Eddie Hobson.

Helpful hints

  • Many restaurants have menus in both Czech and English, but you’d still be wise to avoid places especially around Old Town Square that have many languages. These tend to be the most overpriced places to eat.
  • It’s considered polite to hand the tip to the waiter. Just them how much you’d like back, or tell them to keep the change, rather than leaving it on the table.
  • Many traditional pubs are licensed by one brewery (just look for the sign hanging on the outside) this will limit your choices to light or dark beer. In these pubs, all you need to do is put a coaster down on your table and you’ll be brought beers until you say otherwise.  The beer will be tallied on a sheet of paper on your table.
  • To cheers in Czech, raise your glass, look the person in the eye and say “Na zdravi,” briefly set your glass on the table, and then drink.
