Travel Insurance and Pregnancy

When you fall pregnant, it's natural to want visit your loved ones. Travel Insurance Direct wants to help you make that journey. We cover pregnant women while travelling under many circumstances up to 26 weeks, although we can't cover every woman at every stage of a pregnancy and at a certain point in pregnancy medical professionals will advise against long trips.

Pregnancy is covered as standard

Pregnancy, through 26 weeks gestation, provided it is a single, uncomplicated pregnancy which does not arise from services or treatment associated with an assisted reproductive program, including but not limited to in vitro fertilisation is covered under the standard plan.

Pregnancy is covered with an additional premium

Cover is available under a Pre-existing Medical Conditions Plan for trips ending on or before 26 weeks gestation if:

  1. You have a single uncomplicated pregnancy, which arises from services or treatment associated with an assisted reproduction program including but not limited to in vitro fertilisation.
  2. You have a multiple uncomplicated pregnancy, which does not arise from services or treatment associated with an assisted reproduction program including but not limited to in vitro fertilisation.

Pregnancy is not covered

There is no cover is available for:
  1. Pregnancy beyond 26 weeks gestation for a single pregnancy or beyond 19 weeks for a multiple pregnancy.
  2. a multiple pregnancy, which arises from services or treatment associated with an assisted reproduction program including but not limited to in vitro fertilisation.
  3. any pregnancy complications prior to your policy being issued. Complications are defined as "Any secondary diagnosis occurring prior to, during the course of, concurrent with, or as a result of the pregnancy, which may adversely affect the pregnancy outcome.
  4. You are not yet pregnant, however, you are undergoing fertility treatment, now, or before your trip commences
  5. You have a multiple pregnancy with any past or current complications
  6. regular antenatal care
  7. childbirth at any gestation
  8. care of the newborn child

For example, if you are spending 3 days in Singapore, 2 weeks in the UK and 4 weeks in Europe, select 'Europe' as your destination and you will be covered in Singapore and the UK also.
