Travel Insurance for Africa

Before you venture into the wilds of Africa, consider travel insurance.

Why should I consider travel insurance for Africa?

A vast continent, Africa’s diverse landscapes, multiple cultures and rich history make it an amazing place to visit. However, with the ever-present danger of muggings, cancelled flights and Safari-related mishaps, there's a lot that can go wrong on your African adventure. Luckily, TID can offer cover with travel insurance for Africa – Basic, Comprehensive and Multi Trip. Don't forget that every country has its own laws, government stipulations and potential risks so it’s best to check with the World Health Organization and relevant authorities, such as Smartraveller.

Africa travel insurance FAQs

Is it safe to travel to Africa?

We always advise you check with Smartraveller to see how safe or unsafe a country or a region is before travelling. Whilst crime targeting tourists does exist in Africa for the most part Smartraveller issues a green light to the main tourist destinations such as South Africa and Botswana and North African nations such as Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. Keep in mind we will not cover you under any event in any section of the policy if you travel to a country or region which the Australian government has issued a 'Do Not Travel' warning. The latest travel advice can be found here.

Am I covered if I get sick in Africa?

At TID, our policies can offer cover for emergency medical expenses incurred overseas after a sudden illness or serious injury. If you become unwell during your holiday,  contact our Emergency Assistance Team who can help you navigate what to do if you can’t travel back to Australia as planned, and help you access medical attention or hospitalisation if you’re sick.
